For years I have hated the look of having a ceiling fan in the bedroom but my husband requires it for comfort so I have endured... until now!Finally! A decent looking ceiling fan!! Is it exactly what I wanted? No but it is a massive upgrade from the ugly, black, 52" ceiling fan that was previously hanging above our bed!That being said, this fandelier does not look super high-end to me but I also couldn't seem to find a better one at the time of purchase, so I went ahead. It isn't awful but the metal is pretty thin and has some dings in it as a result. The gold finish looks almost plasticky to me, I may try to rub'n'buff it at some point to see if that helps.The strands of beads on the sides are actually plastic beads strung on a sharp wire that was poorly installed. They gaped and sagged in weird ways so I ended up ordering gold U pins (because my fandelier came with straight pins instead of U pins, more on that later) and I used the U pins to "pin" the stranded beads into place. It looks much better but it was annoying and tedious to pin each strand in 2-3 places all the way around the fixture. (I'm sorry, I didn't take pictures of this part!) The wire that the beads are strung on sticks out haphazardly and I accidentally stuck my finger on it! Painful and bloody, so be careful!Installation wasn't particularly difficult if you've installed light fixtures before, but the instruction manual was useless. Horrible translation. The only real issue we ran into was initially the light wouldn't turn on. After awhile we realized that the little plug connection on the light board wasn't fully pushed in, after that was addressed the light worked!Installation note: You definitely want to install the fixture BEFORE hanging all the bottom crystals on it or it will be way too heavy!The light is BRIGHT. You can adjust the brightness and the warmth of the light with the remote but I don't really understand the light buttons on the remote all that well. If you turn the light on/off from the wall switch it will reset any adjustments you made to the light brightness with remote as well as beep loudly when you flick it on. In fact, it beeps loudly even when you change certain settings from the remote, which I find incredibly annoying.The retractable blades are cool AF. They actually put out more air even on the lowest setting than our previous 52" standard ceiling fan. It is also an incredibly quiet fan.The crystalsThe bottom crystals are not plastic. They have to be carefully extracted from the packaging using the white gloves (to avoid finger prints) provided and hung individually on wire then mounted to the fixture. The wire pins that came with my fan were straight pins and I did not want to have to use needle-nose pliers to curl every single pin so I ordered gold U pins on Amazon. An issue I ran into at this point was that 4 of my crystals didn't have holes drilled properly, so I couldn't hang them. I contacted the customer service by email about sending me some replacements and they readily and promptly sent out replacements. (I actually contacted the customer service team a few times and they were very helpful every time!)All in all I am very pleased with this purchase. We get a LOT of compliments on it, but I have to admit if a higher-quality option comes to my attention I will probably move this one into the guest room.
