I purchased the clip on fan for my home office. It is sturdy and extremely quiet. Very easy to use, has 2 perfect speeds. I love this fan so much. I purchased one for my office desk, too, and plan to buy 2 more for my home. Extremely well made - in the USA!!!In my search for a fan for my tiny room, I had specific criteria:1) Relatively inexpensive2) Quality parts3) Quiet/silent (most important)4) Low wattageMisc criteria:*)Free shipping*)Service, 30-day $ back guarantee if I'm not satisfiedThe Air King 9145 on Amazon matched my criteria precisely. I got it for $25, shipped & no tax. I received it fairly promptly (could care less; shipping was free).Anyways, the box is pretty no-thrills and that's the way it should be. It comes with:1) Box2) Paper manual (note: you can download the manual online by searching "air king 9145 user manual" and go paperless :)3) Fan main assembly4) Clip. The fan can be mounted by using either the clip seen in the picture, or using a screw. The screw-mount is on the back of the fan clip. I personally mounted it using the clip. I found that hanging the fan upside down on a thin piece of wood doesn't really work well. You need a "chunky" place for the clip to get a good grip and hold it. I found best of both worlds with the top of my desk. A pole could work also. The fan has 0-1-2 settings. The manual advertises the fan uses 9 watts on setting "1" and 13 watts on setting "2". I can confirm this is 100% correct using my killawatt(TM) device.-Noise-I personally don't like a lot of air blowing on my face, so I used setting "1" and I like it. It blows enough air to keep me/my laptop cool without drying my eyes. On setting 1, the fan is pretty quiet, even for very-very-noise sensitive people like. It is not "dead silent", but "quiet". Setting 2 is a bit louder and I don't like putting it on setting 2 for that reason. The fan setting is adjusted on the back of the fan head. I find myself baffled as to why the company decided to do a "0-2-1" setting instead of "0-1-2" which is more logical. Now it takes me twice as many "clicks" to get to my setting. Not a big deal (for me especially, since I use a remote control to turn that outlet on).The wiring feels nice and thick and the build quality feels solid. I wish the plug didn't use a "three prong", since I have to get a special extension cord for it. :-(Other than that, what can I say? It performs very well. I am very pleased with this purchase and would do it again!Pros:1) Reasonably priced2) Free shipping, no tax if fulfilled from Amazon3) Fan is quiet on setting 14) Fan wiring is thick and solid! Fan feels high qualityNegatives:1) Could be cheaper? ($25 shipped, no tax is reasonable IMO, but for a 6" fan still pricey for some)2) Only comes in white. This is my biggest complaint. I guess I could use a primer/black spray paint, but it would be great if it came in black :)3) Clip spring could be a bit stronger.4) Plug is three pronged (sucks for getting an extension cord)Although not much of a fan of fans, this was purchased party to have one on while sleeping for white noise. Overall this is a good choice and good value, especially if you want relative quiet. Do check the fan carefully, however, as it is mostly plastic and may crack with improper handling or misuse. The fan is as described and comes partially assembled, with only the clip needing to be attached by hand. Doing so was easy and the fan worked right away when plugged in. I found that the clip is strong -- important depending on where you wish to clamp it -- but the clip does not open particularly wide, perhaps a bit more than 2". Also, the soft rubber clamp pads did adhere to themselves over time from being pressed together. That revealed they are removable in case they inhibit your use.The fan has two speeds and provides a pleasant breeze up to three or four feet. The wind is decently strong and can be adjusted to any angle of 90 degrees, then further if you use the fan's rotating head. This was purchased with the intention of providing some white noise while sleeping. I recorded it at around 36 decibels on low and 42-44 decibels on high. This seems slight compared to the comparatively huge 18" Lasco which was anywhere from 60 decibels to 72 on high (quiet conversation is around 50-55 depending on the speaker.) Still, for the money and compact design, this should be sufficient. One other note: this is actually the second fan received. The first arrived looking as though it had been opened and resealed. When inspected, the plastic that held the ribs of the rotating head in place had cracked. It was not readily apparent until assembled, but without firm pressure toward the body, the tines on the head of the fan rotated freely over the ribs and would not allow the fan to be directed. Check down inside the clamp's jaws and underneath the body to make sure yours is fully intact. This fan moves air very well for how small it is. If you are using this for a tent, make sure you also purchase tent pole clips. It is easy to install on headboard and has many ways of turning it and getting it to blow exactly where you want too. Very personal fan, as you can adjust it just for your needs. Air blowing is good on low, and when it gets hotter the high speed is great! Glad I found it.Noisy and barely puts out enough air. Looks like it’s used or refurbished. Came loose in a plain box. These fans are amazing , 1 of them broke right away , clearly a quality control issue , but the other ones worked great and are still working great ..They have been on 24-7 for 2 years without any issues , I am buying these again def worth the money if they last this long !I was a bit surprised at the low air flow from this little fan. Knowing Air King for their bigger fans that are built very robust and move massive air, this little dude is way underwhelming. It does come with a great clip and heavy duty cord/plug.Not the quietest fan. In fact I hoped it would be quieter as I have it in my home office. 2 speed settings which are fine for what I'm using the fan for. It's clipped onto a shelving unit I'm using as a grow rack, and it easy to position it the way I want, so that's a plus.
